As you may have noticed, it was very fast and easy. While it&#8217;s void of confusing options, it does not create file folders on your computer for your projects. It is recommended you create a folder to hold these. For example the following folder configuration is recommended under your Documents folder:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-176\" src=\"https:\/\/learn.hydrologystudio.com\/culvert-studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/10\/FileFolders.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"193\" height=\"76\" srcset=\"https:\/\/learn.hydrologystudio.com\/culvert-studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/10\/FileFolders.jpg 193w, https:\/\/learn.hydrologystudio.com\/culvert-studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/10\/FileFolders-50x20.jpg 50w, https:\/\/learn.hydrologystudio.com\/culvert-studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/10\/FileFolders-60x24.jpg 60w, https:\/\/learn.hydrologystudio.com\/culvert-studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/10\/FileFolders-100x39.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 193px) 100vw, 193px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Projects folder will contain your project files (filename.cst) while the Rainfall Files will contain your rainfall data described in the following section.<\/p>\n<h2>Set your system units<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>U.S. Customary (default)<\/li>\n<li>Metric<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is recommended that you set your units before attempting to start a new project or open an existing one as the program cannot convert an existing project from one type of units to the other.<\/p>\n<p>To set the units, click the [Project] button on the top Ribbon menu to open the Settings window.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-177\" src=\"https:\/\/learn.hydrologystudio.com\/culvert-studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/10\/SettingsScreen.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"311\" height=\"376\" srcset=\"https:\/\/learn.hydrologystudio.com\/culvert-studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/10\/SettingsScreen.png 311w, https:\/\/learn.hydrologystudio.com\/culvert-studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/10\/SettingsScreen-248x300.png 248w, https:\/\/learn.hydrologystudio.com\/culvert-studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/10\/SettingsScreen-41x50.png 41w, https:\/\/learn.hydrologystudio.com\/culvert-studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/10\/SettingsScreen-50x60.png 50w, https:\/\/learn.hydrologystudio.com\/culvert-studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/10\/SettingsScreen-83x100.png 83w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 311px) 100vw, 311px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select your preferred units and click [Apply] then [Close].<\/p>\n<p>After you select your units, the program will automatically start a new project and will load its default, built-in IDF curves.<\/p>\n<p>You can also review and set the defaults for culvert n-values. Note that you do not need to set these each time you start a new project as they are saved and reloaded upon each program launch.<\/p>\n<h2>Set up your local rainfall<\/h2>\n<p>This software ships with default rainfall data for which is useful while getting to know the program. But eventually you&#8217;ll want to setup your own local data. See, <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.hydrologystudio.com\/culvert-studio\/knowledge-base\/setting-up-local-rainfall-idf-curves\/\">Setting Up Rainfall <\/a>for instructions.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Tip:<\/strong> The companion products, Hydrology Studio and Stormwater Studio use the same IDF file.
